Pacific Heights – Cold Nights (featuring Stan Walker & Larissa Lambert)

NZ creative Devin Abrams a.k.a Pacific Heights has dropped his fifth studio album The Waters Between today with a new collaboration with Stan Walker and Larissa Lambert leading the release. Cold Nights is a beautiful track that combines the vocals of Stan and Larissa with the production of the song being a bit of a labour of love as the process had started back in 2019. Pacific Heights record also features a number of collaborations including Domino with Foley and Back To You with Louis Baker.

Lizzo – Special

It’s About Damn Time we had a new record from Lizzo! Her hotly anticipated album Special is here with 12 tracks to get amongst. 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) is one of the songs Lizzo shared she was excited for people to hear – it’s an upbeat fun tune that seems to touch on self love and acceptance. Lizzo is also having a very good week on-top of this release as her reality show Watch Out For The Big Grrrls has picked up six Emmy nominations!

Drax Project – Diamond

The talented four-piece has returned with their Diamond EP which features recently released songs Crazy and Mad At You. The five track record showcases Drax Project’s signature sound and has a great vibe to it throughout. The EP is said to be a collection of songs they love to play live including the groovy Fashion Sense which was co-written with Australian musician Sam Fischer. The group have also been keeping their head down in the studio over these past few years with the pandemic so we’re looking forward to hearing more of what they’ve been cooking up!

The Driver Era – Keep Moving Forward (featuring Nikka Costa)

Talented American duo The Driver Era (Ross & Rocky Lynch) keep bringing their funky, catchy vibes with new release Keep Moving Forward, featuring musician Nikka Costa. They have encouraged listeners to come up with their own interpretation of the lyrics, mentioning for them it’s about “moving past a specific experience, bypassing influences or discovering new heights.” The Driver Era is also bringing their Girlfriend world tour to NZ in September so fans will have a chance to experience their electric vibe live!

Sophie-Maude – Take Me Away

Take Me Away is Bay of Plenty artist Sophie-Maude’s latest release. The 80’s inspired pop tune is undeniably catchy and the lyrics hint at connecting with someone on a deeper level which will likely be relatable to many listeners. The track, which was produced at Mount Maunganui’s Link Flamingo Studios, is said to be a taste of the style of music Sophie-Maude is heading in – check out the music video below.

Taylor B-W – Tears of Coal

The ‘explore’ pages that recommend content online really come through at times – this week I came across Australian Pop/R&B musician Taylor B-W. I really liked the latest single she has created, Tears of Coal, which was produced by Liam Quinn (Lime Cordiale, Jessica Mauboy, Peach PRC). This song is also said to be the last release ahead of Taylor’s upcoming debut EP and based on this tune and the visualiser, I’m looking forward to hearing what’s next.

Luca George – Ruin My Life
