Panic! At The Disco – Viva Las Vengeance
Panic! At The Disco are back! After hinting at new music for a few weeks now (that featured sending some fans a cryptic message and an alarm clock…) Viva Las Vengeance has arrived. The song is the first taste fans get of the group’s just-announced upcoming album (with the same title) due for release in August. “This is the tale about growing up in Las Vegas. It’s about love, fame, burnout and everything that happens in between”, the band who are led by Brendon Urie posted about the new record. They’ve also just announced a tour overseas so fingers crossed they bring this down under in 2023!
Stan Walker featuring Kings – Feelings
Stan Walker and Kings is definitely a local music collaboration we needed, they’ve worked together previously but their new tune Feelings is on a different level – their voices and vibe compliment each other so well. The music video which was directed by Shae Sterling also dropped today, it was filmed in Ruatoki (one of Stan’s favourite places) which he posted was something they would ‘cherish forever’.
Tate McRae – i used to think i could fly
After taking over TikTok feeds with snippets of her catchy and relatable tunes, Canadian singer Tate McRae has released a new record i used to think i could fly. The album features the likes of what would you do? and she’s all i wanna be. The 18-year-old who already has billions of streams to her name described the writing process as a ‘rollercoaster’ and that the album has some of the most honest and real lyrics she has ever written. Tate also posted that she can wait to ‘scream’ the new songs on tour and we’re in luck as she’s got a show at Auckland’s Shed 10 on July 24th.
There’s a Tuesday – Boy Scout
Local band There’s a Tuesday have just dropped their new EP Boy Scout. The record features Bus Stop, Baby Blue and recently released tune Girl At Night (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKrQKH9w_vg). There’s a Tuesday have shared that their sophomore EP is a body of work that is their most sincere. I saw them live earlier in the year and know those who head along to their upcoming Boy Scout tour are in for a treat – they kick off the celebrations tomorrow (4th) with Daffodils at Auckland’s The Tuning Fork.
Why Don’t We – How Do You Love Somebody
American group Why Don’t We may have recently been going through a tough legal battle with a member of their former management but they are still pushing through with a number of music releases and an upcoming tour (hopefully a NZ show soon as they were last here in late 2018!) much to the delight of fans. I think Why Don’t We have also shed a bit of their ‘boyband’ shell with the growth they’ve shown in their newer music, and How Do You Love Somebody is no exception.
Denel – Make It Right
Local musical creative Denel has returned with his first music release of 2022, Make It Right. Producer and engineer EDY jumped on the beat production for the song which has a R&B vibe to it. Denel had previously shared that the move towards more R&B (rather than Pop) was the musical genre shift he had been trying to make in his artist journey. The music video produced by Kwasnik Pictures is due to drop on Monday so keep an eye out for that and in the meantime you can spin Make It Right.FOLLOW US...
