Music goddess Taylor Swift sent social media into a spin last Monday when a few tweets emerged that they had spotted the blonde haired beauty en route to New Zealand.

Many NZ fans wondered if it could be true, but it was soon dismissed as it was the day of the American Music Awards in the States.

When it was confirmed Taylor was a no-show at the awards, even with six nominations, social media was set alight again. A photo emerged late Monday night, supposedly showing production of a Swift music video on Bethells Beach in Auckland.

The new music video is thought to be for her single, Out of the Woods, a fact confirmed by her record label. Universal Music NZ.

Swifties set out to try find their Queen, with reported sightings in East Tamaki and Henderson. Photos of trailers and black SUVs in the South Pacific Pictures lot led them to the conclusion that she was there filming part of the music video.

Taylor was due to begin the Australian leg of her 1989 tour that weekend, so swiftly went over for her Sydney show (playing to over 70,000 people!), but it was as if she couldn’t Stay away, as on Sunday night her private jet touched back down in Queenstown to finish filming her music video.

Taylor had been quiet on social media regarding being in NZ, but on Tuesday morning she gave all her 73,387,739 Facebook fans a treat: a photo of her and brother Austin in the South Island, titled “Swift family road trip!” Swift also posted a funny video on her Instagram to her 57 million followers.

To add to all of the craziness, Air New Zealand put out a request to have Swift star in their next safety video. Can you hold both fists in the air and say ‘Yeah!’? We’re keen for this collaboration.

Did anyone see Taylor while she was here? What are your thoughts on her potentially having filmed the music video for Out of the Woods (cue how good Bad Blood was) here in our beautiful country? Are you excited? Share your thoughts below and on Facebook. #TearawayMagazine #TaylorInNZ.
