Daniel Sloss – DARK
Q Theatre, Auckland
3/5 Stars

Daniel Sloss, from Scotland, bought his comedy act to New Zealand for the first time this year, for the International Comedy Festival.

The 25-year-old took comedy to a whole different level, having no-filter chats with the audience. Laughs ensued as he shared stories from his childhood and how adult life has been for him.

The young comedian tackled subjects ranging from religion to siblings to babies and everything in between. He really took a chance on how the audience could have reacted to certain jokes.

Daniel may be sick of people calling his comedy ‘dark’ ,but then he went and named his show after it! I’m not sure how else to describe his comedy, other than ‘dark’. It definitely pushes the boundaries.

I did enjoy the one-hour piece in the Loft at Q Theatre, which was the perfect place for this performance. He had half the crowd in cheers while the other half had their mouths dropped open at what he had just said – there was never a dull moment.

If you want to hear an honest comedy show about things from one end of the world to the other, make sure you head along to one of Mr Sloss’ shows this week. This one is R16.

Catch Daniel Sloss, 26th – 30th April at Q Theatre as part of the 2016 NZ International Comedy Festival powered by Flick Electric Co. For the full line-up of shows in the Festival and tickets head to comedyfestival.co.nz
