PlayStation gamers take note – the next big thing is here! Sony Interactive Entertainment are about to launch software update 4.00 as a beta.

What does that mean for you? It means you get to try out the biggest and most exciting update yet! Here’s an overview of what’s in store.

Sony are promising the most user-friendly and streamlined experience possible. With update 4.00 in beta mode, you’ll be able to personalise almost every aspect of your PS4’s performance. From new ways of organising your Library to a new, customisable display, there’s a lot to get hyped about!

From now on, you won’t have to leave your game just to see who’s online. The Quick Menu and Share Menu will only cover a portion of the screen, and you’ll be able to arrange icons and shortcuts however you like. Just a quick glance can tell you which friends are online, or let you access the improved social media and broadcasting apps. Oh yes, and instead of just a measly 10 seconds, clips you upload to Twitter can now be up to 140 seconds long. Sweet!

With the updated Launcher and Library, you’ll have the ability to organise your games by purchase date, install status and other parameters. This update also makes it easy and intuitive to search for games and apps, so you can dive into them quicker than ever.

Another exciting feature is the revamped Trophy system. It will allow you to see, at a glance, the rarity of a particular trophy and the name and description of any trophies you haven’t earned yet. There is also a new Offline Mode so you can keep track of your trophies, even if you’re not connected to the internet!
