WOMAD – a music, arts and dance festival that takes place annually at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth in March.

The festival features five stages spread throughout Brooklands Park and the TSB Bowl of Brooklands. A much loved highlight of the festival is the international food court and global retail village. WOMAD is unique in that it caters to all ages and it’s not uncommon to see three generations of a family enjoying the festival together. Other areas of interest include Kidzone, the Living Library, Sustainable Village and WOStore.

As an organisation, WOMAD now works in many different ways, but the aims are always the same – to excite, to inform, educate, inspire and create awareness of the worth and potential of a multicultural society.

“Pure enthusiasm for music from around the world led us to the idea of WOMAD in 1980 and thus to the first WOMAD festival in 1982. The festivals have always been wonderful and unique occasions and have succeeded in introducing an international audience to many talented artists.” – Peter Gabriel, WOMAD founder.

March 17–19 2017: three days, five stages, 17,500 people and over 30 performing groups from around the world.
