Halsey – So Good

New Halsey – yes, yes, yes is all I can say! Halsey has shared about how they experienced a bit of a life full circle moment with new release So Good, “Alev and I first met because he was supposed to write and direct a movie about my life. We started a family and now he’s written and directed this little film about OUR life”. I love this visualiser and this new tune – Halsey is currently performing overseas with their epic artist skills as a part of the show, it would be awesome to see them bring that back to NZ!

Marlon Williams – Thinking Of Nina

Marlon Williams is back with a new tune, Thinking Of Nina which gives fans a taste of what to expect from his upcoming album My Boy (due for release in September). Thinking Of Nina is the eighth tune on the forthcoming record’s track list and joins the recently released album title song My Boy. Marlon is currently on tour across the UK and Europe with fellow local legend Lorde which will be followed by his own tour overseas. Hopefully NZ audiences will be able to see the musical globetrotter sometime soon, for now we can check out his new music video.

Holly Humberstone – A Handbook To Growing Up Fast

Holly is a British music star on the rise after releasing her second EP The Walls Are Way Too Thin. She has just launched an epic short film with YouTube that gave her a chance to reflect on everything going on, it also features Haunted House and I Would Die 4 U. In exciting news, Holly is on her way to the country next month as part of Live Nation’s Splendour Sideshows, you can catch her all-ages show at The Tuning Fork on the 31st of July.

TE KAAHU – Taupiri

Theia’s reo rangatira project TE KAAHU’s new album, Te Kaahu O Rangi has dropped, and with it a visualiser (animation by Auckland-based artist Karin Yamasaki) for one of the tracks, Taupiri. Describing the meaning behind the song, they shared “for hundreds of years Taupiri (my ancestral mountain) has fostered and looked after my ancestors from birth and serves as their final resting place in death, with my great grandparents and beyond buried in her embrace.” TE KAAHU also has an all-ages show at The Tuning Fork next week to celebrate Matariki and the new record release, head over to MoshTix to snag a ticket while there is still some left!

George Ezra – Gold Rush Kid

You may already know George Ezra’s new catchy song Green Green Grass as it’s been spinning across the airwaves. The British singer has now released his new album Gold Rush Kid which features the tune in its track list. As I was in the middle of writing up this week’s music haul, a video of George performing at a recent UK festival popped up and he had the crowd involved in a bit of a sing-a-long – it is perhaps a little taster of the vibe we can expect at his upcoming Auckland show at Spark Arena on the 25th of October. Gold Rush Kid is available to stream now!

Crystal – Perplexed

Auckland-based upcoming alternative-pop artist Crystal has just released their new song, Perplexed. Crystal has shared that the track was written during a semester break and is based around realising the friends she had would all soon go off on their separate paths. “The song is about how nervous I was feeling about the future, feeling confused and perplexed about change but how we have to do things which are completely out of our comfort zone in order to grow and achieve the things we most desire.” Check out the Perplexed music video below.
